Time-Lapse Sequences Shot with the GigaPan

Okay, now this in not exactly what I’d call a time-lapse GigaPan (ask Randy Sargent about those) but this is an innovative use of the GigaPan robot to capture time-lapse sequences, as pioneered by Stoney Vintson of GigaPan Systems.

We have just finished building the prototype for a solar powered, wireless timelapse gigapan-type system we are calling gigavision. The goal is to shoot timelapse gigapixel-scale images from a fixed camera to enable timelapse of areas for science research from the landscape scale down to individual plants. The system should be up and running in the next week or so and will shoot three to six 200-image panoramas a day from now on. The first system is being installed in the Indiana Dunes State Park near Chicago. More info here: TimeScience blog and here: Gigavision blog
